Supporting Fresh, Local, and Black-Owned: A Visit to Fresh Houwse Grocery

Remember when Tezya and I talked about the importance of shopping fresh and local? Well, this is exactly what we meant!

Today, we had the chance to stop by Fresh Houwse Grocery for the grand opening of their new location on the South Side of Houston—and let me tell you, this place is a game-changer.

What Makes Fresh Houwse Special?

Fresh Houwse Grocery is a farmer-owned, community-operated grocery store dedicated to providing:

  • Locally grown, fresh, and safe produce

  • High-quality meats & preserves

  • Delicious fresh juices & prepared foods

  • A welcoming space that truly feels like home

And did I mention? It’s Black-owned. 🖤✊🏽

The energy in this place was amazing. The staff was so inviting, treating us like family from the moment we walked in. We even had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, @theivyfiles, a Food Equity Advocate, Third Generation Farmer, and owner of @ivyleaffarms, an Urban Farm in Sunnyside. It’s inspiring to see people so committed to food justice and accessibility in our communities.

Stop By & Support!
