Volunteering at Westbury Community Garden

Today, I had the opportunity to volunteer at Westbury Community Garden in Southwest Houston alongside my girl Tezya.. The weather was a little chilly, but the energy and warmth of the people there made it feel just like home.

The Power of Community Gardens

Community gardens are more than just plots of land with vegetables; they’re spaces for connection, education, and sustainability. They provide fresh produce, bring people together, and offer hands-on opportunities to learn about growing food. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just getting started, volunteering at a community garden is a rewarding way to give back while learning something new.

Why We’ll Be Back

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms. There’s something special about working the land, side by side with others who share a love for fresh food and community. It was a reminder that food isn’t just about what’s on our plates—it’s about the people, the process, and the impact we make along the way.

We’ll definitely be back soon! If you’re in Houston and looking for a way to connect with nature and community, I highly recommend checking out Westbury Community Garden.

Have you ever volunteered at a community garden? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
