Spring Garden Seeding & Early Sprouts 🌱
Finally, a break in the weather gave me a chance to prep my soil and plant a few seeds. I was excited to get my hands in the dirt, but I quickly realized I didn’t buy enough soil. Rookie mistake! About 80% of what I’m growing needs at least 12 inches of depth, so I had to get creative—redistributing what I had to one side of the bed until I can grab more.
To my surprise, just seven days after planting, I started seeing sprouts! My Kale, and Watermelon Radishes, have already broken through the soil. Now, I’m praying they survive the freeze next week.
Each side of my bed has a different soil mix, blended with peat moss, manure, and vegetable fertilizer. One side is thriving with great drainage, while the other… not so much. I’ve been taking notes in my garden journal, and so far, I’ve learned that all soil is not created equal. Definitely won’t be using that underperforming brand again!
As I planted more seeds, I took a moment to pray over them—trusting that in due time, God will bring the harvest.
